- The tie holds a collar in place. Remove it and only the interlining is doing the work, so it has to be there.

- Both stand on their own. A soft point collar worn open lies flat against the chest and looks unfinished.

- A barrel cuff suits a shirt worn without a tie. French cuffs without a tie read as though something has been forgotten.
- Under a sport coat
- Open-necked under a jacket is standard business dress here, and the collar has to sit over the lapel without curling.

The process
Two visits, not five
- First appointment
- About an hour. Cloth, measurements, and a conversation about how you actually wear the garment.
- Build
- Four to six weeks. Nothing is rushed and nothing is sent overseas without us knowing where it is.
- Collection
- Twenty minutes. Anything needing adjustment goes to Enrique, who works on site.
- Alterations
- Included on what we make. There is no separate bill at collection.
- Afterwards
- Your pattern stays on file, so the next order is a phone call.

What collar works without a tie?
One with genuine structure — a button-down, or a spread with a firm interlining. Without a tie holding it, the collar is unsupported, and a soft one lies flat against your chest and undoes the whole look.
How many buttons should I leave open?
One. Two is a deliberate choice that only works in specific settings, and three is a costume. One reads as considered rather than as having forgotten something.
How many shirts should I own?
About ten if you wear one daily. That allows weekly laundering without repeating, which is what makes them last — washing wears a shirt out considerably faster than wearing it does.
Where are you and what are your hours?
100 S. West Street in downtown Arlington, parking beside the building. Monday to Saturday, ten until five, closed Sundays.
