Western-influenced suits made to measure at The Man’s Shop, fifteen miles from downtown Fort Worth. The influence sits in the yoke and the armhole rather than in piping and embroidery. Order by November if you want one for Stock Show, which is our busiest run of the year for these.

- Ordinary business dress
- In parts of Fort Worth a Western-cut suit is worn to meetings and to dinner. It is only unusual when the decoration is loud.
- Ordering ahead
- Our Western work concentrates into a short run each winter, so lead times stretch. Plan earlier than you would for a business suit.
- Boots first
- Most customers here already own the boots. We cut the trouser to them rather than the other way round.
- Heavier cloth
- Heavier than a Dallas business suit. It hangs better over a boot shaft and survives being worn rather than sat in.
- Fifteen miles
- The shortest run of any city we serve, straight along I-30.
The process
Two visits, not five
- First appointment
- About an hour. Cloth, measurements, and a conversation about how you actually wear the garment.
- Build
- Four to six weeks. Nothing is rushed and nothing is sent overseas without us knowing where it is.
- Collection
- Twenty minutes. Anything needing adjustment goes to Enrique, who works on site.
- Alterations
- Included on what we make. There is no separate bill at collection.
- Afterwards
- Your pattern stays on file, so the next order is a phone call.

Western suits, answered
When should I order for Stock Show?
By November for anything made. Late January and February are the busiest weeks of our year for Western tailoring, and leaving it until January limits you to what is already on the floor.
Is a Western-cut suit acceptable for business here?
In much of Fort Worth, yes — it is worn to meetings and to dinner without comment. The variable is decoration rather than cut: a shaped yoke reads as tailoring, contrast piping reads as costume.
What makes it Western rather than just a suit?
A shaped shoulder yoke, an armhole cut higher for movement, and a trouser designed to sit over a boot. Everything beyond that is ornament, and ornament is what dates.
