Custom and altered denim for Mansfield customers, twelve miles from the shop. Most men do not need custom denim — they need the right rise and a proper hem. We will tell you which of the two you are, and alter what you own if that is the better answer.
What matters
The measurements that decide it
- Start with what you own
- Bring the pair you wear most. Frequently the answer is hemming and a slight taper rather than anything new.
- The rise test
- If your shirt pulls out when you sit, the rise is too low. It is the most common problem and it cannot be altered.
- Hemming
- Done on site, with your shoes on, retaining the original hem where it matters.
- When custom is right
- Athletic thighs with a smaller waist, or a seat that shelf denim does not accommodate.
- Twelve miles

Getting it right
How we work
- Bring your shoes
- Hemming is judged standing, in the shoes you will wear. It is the single most common reason a hem gets redone.
- Try, do not order
- Cuts vary between makers and between models. Five minutes in a fitting room beats any size chart.
- Alterations on site
- Enrique works in the building, so pinning happens with you in the garment.
- We will say no
- If a pair does not work on you, we would rather tell you than sell it.
- Keep a note
- We record what you bought and what it needed, which makes the next pair easier.

Custom denim, answered
Do I actually need custom jeans?
Most men do not. What most men need is the right rise and a proper hem, which is far cheaper. Custom earns its place when your waist and seat measurements are far apart, which no alteration resolves.
Can you hem jeans while I wait?
Not usually the same hour, but turnaround is short and local customers can collect rather than wait on a posted parcel.
What should I bring?
The jeans you wear most and the shoes you wear with them. Between those two we can usually tell you within five minutes what is wrong and what it would cost to fix.
Where is the shop?
100 S. West Street in downtown Arlington, with parking beside the building. We have been at it since 1972.
Will someone follow me around the shop?
No. Tell us what you are looking for and we will leave you to it, or help if you want help. Nobody here benefits from pressuring you into something that does not work.
What are your hours?
Monday to Saturday, ten until five. Closed Sundays.
