The Man’s Shop is an independent menswear store at 100 S. West Street in downtown Arlington, serving Fort Worth since 1972. Tailored clothing, sportswear, shoes and custom work, with our own tailor on site. Monday to Saturday, ten until five.

Worth knowing
- Softer tailoring
- Less structure through the shoulder, more texture in the cloth. It is a real difference and it changes what we put in front of you.
- Western influence, done properly
- A yoke and a cut rather than decoration. We are asked regularly and we are comfortable with it.
- Boots as dress footwear
- Legitimate here in a way it is not everywhere, and it changes how trousers are cut.
- One very good piece
- The common request is one genuinely good jacket rather than three adequate ones.
- Fifteen miles
- Along I-30. Most customers manage it on a lunch break.

- Wally Hardin
- Owner. Has been fitting customers in this building since 1972 and is usually in the shop.
- Austin Roberson
- Store manager and buyer. Selects most of the range and runs the Private Label line.
- Patrick Milligan
- Haberdasher, and directs our ladies’ made-to-measure work.
- Enrique
- Master tailor, over twenty years with us. Every alteration is done by him, on site.
- What that means
- The person who measures you is the person who sees the order through. It is the main practical difference from a department store.

The shop, answered
Do you carry Western-influenced clothing?
Yes, and we make it as well. Done properly the influence is in the cut — a yoke, a higher armhole, a trouser that works over a boot — rather than in contrast stitching and embroidery, which dates quickly.
Can you fit trousers to wear over boots?
Yes, and it needs the boots present. Shaft height varies between pairs enough that trousers cut for one sit wrong on another.
Do you carry boots?
Yes, including Tecovas. Fitting boots and trousers in one visit saves an alteration later, which is worth the coordination.
How long do alterations take?
It depends on the work and the queue, and we will give you a date rather than a vague answer. Simple hemming is quick; recutting a jacket is not.
Do you alter clothing bought somewhere else?
Yes, routinely. Enrique works on garments from anywhere, and it is often how new customers first come to us.
