Gifts for the manwho has enough
The trouble with buying for men is that anything worth owning has to fit. Which is exactly the problem we already solved.
The Man’s Shop keeps clients’ measurements on file, so buying a gift for a man who shops here is straightforward — call and we will tell you what fits and what he already owns. Gift certificates are available for any amount, including toward a custom garment. Arlington, Texas.
Why this is easier than you think
We already know his sizes
The reason buying clothing for men goes wrong is fit, and fit is the one thing a shop with his measurements on file can guarantee.
If he has shopped here, we know his neck, his sleeve, his jacket, and what he bought last year. A phone call is genuinely enough to get something right, which is a considerable improvement on guessing at a department store.
If he has not shopped here, tell us about him — what he does, how he dresses, what he already has too many of. We do this every December and we are good at it.

What works at each level
- Small
- Socks, pocket squares, a good belt, shoe care. Things a man will not buy himself and uses constantly.
- Considered
- A tie he would not have chosen, a knit, a leather good. This is where knowing what he owns matters most.
- Significant
- A made-to-measure dress shirt. The most common entry point to custom, and the gift most likely to bring him back for a second one himself.
- Substantial
- A gift certificate toward a custom sport coat or suit, with the appointment as part of the gift. He chooses the cloth, which is half the pleasure.
- Gift certificates
- Any amount, redeemable against anything including custom. The sensible answer when you want him to have the choice.
How to do it
Three ways
Call us
Tell us who he is. If he is a client we will check his file; if not we will ask a few questions and make suggestions.
Come in
Twenty minutes on the floor with someone who knows the stock is worth an hour online.
Gift the appointment
For custom, the appointment itself is part of the gift. Many men enjoy the choosing more than the receiving.
Common questions
Gifts, answered
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, in any amount, redeemable against anything in the shop including custom clothing. It is the sensible choice when you want him to have the final say on cloth and style.
Can I buy a custom suit or shirt as a gift?
Yes. Usually the best approach is a gift certificate toward the garment plus the appointment, so he chooses the cloth and details himself. That part is genuinely enjoyable and most men would rather not have it decided for them.
Do you know my husband’s sizes?
If he has shopped with us, very likely. We keep measurements and purchase history on file, so a phone call is often all it takes to get a gift right. Ring us and we will check.
What is a good gift for a man who has everything?
Something he would never buy himself but uses constantly — good socks, a proper belt, shoe care — or a made-to-measure dress shirt, which is the most common first step into custom and tends to lead to a second one he buys himself.
Can you help if I don’t know anything about menswear?
That is most of the people we help in December. Tell us what he does, how he dresses, and what he already has too many of, and we will narrow it down quickly. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing.
How late can I order a gift before Christmas?
Accessories and in-stock items are available up to the last day we are open. Custom garments take four to six weeks, so a gift certificate plus an appointment in the new year is the better answer if you are close to the date.
