Custom suits for Mansfield men, cut and fitted at The Man’s Shop in Arlington. One appointment to choose cloth and take measurements, four to six weeks to build, then a second visit to collect. Alterations are handled in-house by our own tailor. Nothing is sent away and nothing is rented.
How it works
Two visits, not five
Some makers want a fitting, a basted fitting, a forward fitting and a finish. We take measurements once, build the suit, and see you again when it is ready.
That first appointment runs about an hour. You choose cloth, we take somewhere north of twenty measurements, and we talk about how you actually wear a suit — whether you drive in it, whether you carry a phone in the inside pocket, whether the jacket comes off at your desk.
Four to six weeks later the suit is here. You come in, we check it on you, and anything that needs adjusting goes to Enrique, our master tailor, who works on site. Most collections take twenty minutes.

- What to buy first
- Navy, mid-weight, two-button, notch lapel. It covers interviews, weddings, funerals and client meetings, and nothing about it will look dated in ten years.

- Anything with a pattern, anything very light, and anything you are buying because it looks good on a hanger. Those are second and third suits.

- We will tell you honestly if an alteration to something you own would serve you better than a new suit. That happens more often than you would expect.

Bring the shoes
Trouser break is judged standing, in the shoes you will wear with the suit. This is the single most common reason a hem gets redone.
Think about the occasion
A suit for daily business, a wedding, and an interview are three different garments. Knowing which one it is shapes the cloth.

If you own something that fits well, bring it. It tells us more in two minutes than twenty questions would.

How much does a custom suit cost in Mansfield?
Custom suits generally start around fifteen hundred dollars and rise with the cloth rather than the construction. The alterations at collection are included, which is not true of an off-the-rack suit where fitting costs are separate and add up quickly.
How long does a custom suit take?
Four to six weeks from the appointment. If you have a date — a wedding, a conference, an interview — tell us at the fitting and we will work backwards from it and be honest about whether it can be done.
How many appointments do I need?
Two. One to choose cloth and take measurements, which runs about an hour, and one to collect, which is usually twenty minutes. We do not do the four-fitting process some makers use.
How do I know if a suit actually fits?
Check the shoulder seam first — it should sit exactly at the edge of your shoulder, and it is the one thing a tailor cannot meaningfully change. Then look for a gap between the jacket collar and your shirt collar. Those two tell you more than anything else.
Is a custom suit worth it for a first suit?
Often yes, because the alternative — an off-the-rack suit plus the alterations to make it fit — lands in a similar place and fits less well. But we will tell you honestly if altering something you already own would serve you better.
How do I know if I am being sold something I do not need?
Ask us what you should not buy. We will tell you, and it is the fastest way to work out whether someone is fitting you or selling to you. Frequently the honest answer for a first-time customer is one suit and two shirts rather than a wardrobe.
