Roughly twenty miles from downtown Dallas, straight down I-30. Most of our Dallas customers combine the fitting with something else on this side of the metroplex.
Custom suits for Dallas men, cut and fitted at The Man’s Shop in Arlington. One appointment to choose cloth and take measurements, four to six weeks to build, then a second visit to collect. Alterations are handled in-house by our own tailor. Nothing is sent away and nothing is rented.
How it works
Two visits, not five
Some makers want a fitting, a basted fitting, a forward fitting and a finish. We take measurements once, build the suit, and see you again when it is ready.
That first appointment runs about an hour. You choose cloth, we take somewhere north of twenty measurements, and we talk about how you actually wear a suit — whether you drive in it, whether you carry a phone in the inside pocket, whether the jacket comes off at your desk.
Four to six weeks later the suit is here. You come in, we check it on you, and anything that needs adjusting goes to Enrique, our master tailor, who works on site. Most collections take twenty minutes.

- Appointments are with Austin Roberson or Patrick Milligan by name, so you deal with the same person from measurement through collection.
- If you cannot get here twice
- We can work from measurements taken elsewhere, and we do this regularly for customers who travel. It is not our preference, but it is workable.
- Parking
- Straightforward. We are on South West Street in downtown Arlington with parking beside the building.

- The finance shift
- The Texas Stock Exchange began trading downtown in July 2026, and JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Charles Schwab have all expanded into North Texas. The dress standard in those offices is firming up rather than relaxing.
- What that means for cloth
- More charcoal and navy, fewer statement colors, and a preference for cloth that survives a working day rather than photographs well once.
- The commute problem
- Dallas professionals spend real time in a car in heat. High-twist wools resist wrinkling and hold a crease through it; ordinary worsteds do not.
- Client-facing work
- Law and real estate in Dallas are still industries where the suit is doing work in the first ten minutes of a meeting. That is worth spending on.
- Why come west
- Twenty miles buys you a fitting with the person who will still be handling your wardrobe in five years, rather than whoever is on the floor that day.

Trouser break is judged standing, in the shoes you will wear with the suit. This is the single most common reason a hem gets redone.

A suit for daily business, a wedding, and an interview are three different garments. Knowing which one it is shapes the cloth.

If you own something that fits well, bring it. It tells us more in two minutes than twenty questions would.

Custom suits, answered
How much does a custom suit cost in Dallas?
Custom suits generally start around fifteen hundred dollars and rise with the cloth rather than the construction. The alterations at collection are included, which is not true of an off-the-rack suit where fitting costs are separate and add up quickly.
How long does a custom suit take?
Four to six weeks from the appointment. If you have a date — a wedding, a conference, an interview — tell us at the fitting and we will work backwards from it and be honest about whether it can be done.
How many appointments do I need?
Two. One to choose cloth and take measurements, which runs about an hour, and one to collect, which is usually twenty minutes. We do not do the four-fitting process some makers use.
How many suits does a Dallas professional need?
Three is the working answer for most client-facing roles: navy, charcoal, and one with texture or pattern. Below three you wear the same suit twice a week and it shows; above five you are buying variety rather than capability.
What cloth works for a Dallas commute?
A high-twist wool. It resists wrinkling and holds a crease through a long drive in heat, which an ordinary worsted does not. It costs a little more and it is the difference between arriving presentable and arriving creased.
Why come to Arlington rather than shop in Dallas?
Continuity, mostly. You are fitted by Austin or Patrick and it is the same person next time and the time after. That matters more than twenty miles once you have a wardrobe rather than a suit.
